New Balance Team Sports has partnered with the European Cricket League to provide custom playing, training and casual wear to all clubs and officials in the new Champions League of Cricket in Europe, launching July 29 - 31 at the La Manga Club, Spain.
“New Balance crafts sporting goods to the highest quality, and we are very proud to be partnering with a brand that is linked to the likes of the English and South African national cricket teams, Liverpool F.C., Celtic F.C., Athletic Bilbao, FC Porto and FC Dynamo Kiev,” said Daniel Weston, founder of the European Cricket League.
Cricket has been a key sport in the New Balance portfolio for many years, both in terms of team wear supply and the sponsorship of some the world’s greatest current players, such as Joe Root, Jason Roy and Aaron Finch. “We are extremely excited to be partnering with the ECL to both promote and grow the game in the world’s fastest growing cricket markets,” says Jamie Stewart from NB Team Sports.
Played in a T10 format, ECL 19 will feature the domestic champions of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia and Spain, competing for the chance to be crowned as Continental Europe club cricket’s ‘Kings of Europe’.
Teams will be split into two groups of four with matches being played on a round-robin basis, with the top two from each progressing to contest the semi-finals and final. All matches will be broadcasted and streamed live around the world.
Hannah Potts, from NB Team Sports Marketing said, “The ECL clubs will break new cricket ground for New Balance in continental Europe, we can’t wait to watch the pride and emotion of the players while they wear the NB Team Wear during the league as they battle it out to be the Kings of Europe!”
The first league will be limited to eight champion clubs from official ICC member federations, but there is a roadmap to increase the number of qualified teams in the coming years.
The designs of each of the clubs team and official wear is in process and will be released in the coming weeks.
